Lightning announced development camp roster, camp to begin Saturday

It is that time again for the Tampa Bay Lightning to hold its annual prospects camp. Tampa Bay announced that there will be 31 players on the 2013 Development Camp roster. Of the 31 players, the roster consists of 20 forwards, seven defensemen and four net minders.

The development camp features all six of the Lightning's selections from the draft last weekend including the team's third overall pick, forward Jonathan Drouin. Druin played on the same line as the NHL's first overall pick, Nathan MacKinnon when they played with the Halifax Mooseheads of the QMJHL. Drouin had 35 points in the playoffs for the Mooseheads. Drouin also had 105 points in the regular season. A total of 20 draftees will be at the camp.

The camp will be held at the Brandon Ice Sports Forum and will begin on Saturday July 6 and runs through Wednesday July 10. It is free and open to the public. The on ice portion begins on Saturday.

There are two former first round picks on the Lightning's camp roster including defensemen Slater Koekkoek and goaltender Andrey Vasilevskiy. One name missing from the list is Cody Bradley, former Lightning forward Brian Bradley's son, who was in Tampa's development camp in 2012.

Other skaters on Tampa's camp roster include seven invitees and four players that have been signed as free agents. Some notable players on the roster include two former second round picks, forward Brian Hart (drafted in 2012) and forward Nikita Kucherov (drafted in 2011).

Tampa's top prospects will be competing in a culmination of drills and workouts along with a 3-3 tournament on Tuesday and Wednesday as the developmental camp commences. The last day of camp will be streamed online at tampabaylightning.com
