Forward J.T. Brown re-signed by Tampa Bay

Transactions just keep happening at 401 Channelside Drive today as another Tampa Bay Lightning forward is brought under contract. This time it is restricted free agent J.T. Brown signed by the club, whose two-year deal is just over $1.8 million in total cost, with a cap hit around $950,000 (this news is via Darren Dreger on Twitter).

Brown, who turns 24 next Wednesday, had 19 points after his recall by the Lightning early in the season. He appeared in 63 games for Tampa Bay, playing mostly on the third line in a defensive-forward role. The one phrase that seemed repeated by fans regarding his offense was issues with how he finished – or more like an inability to finish. That wasn’t exactly criticism, as usually people would invoke a young Martin St. Louis (who often earned the same “if he could only finish” remark).

Brown joins Alex Killorn, Tyler Johnson and Ondrej Palat as signed restricted free agents, Killorn and Palat having signed last week and Johnson coming to terms in late May. Defensemen Andrej Sustr and Mark Barberio, along with forwards Richard Panik and Brett Connolly remain unsigned.
