The Tampa Bay Lightning (24-11-4) start the new year in Pennsylvania tonight and close out the season series with the Pittsburgh Penguins (23-9-5) in a clash of divisional leaders. Tampa Bay enters the game with a two-point lead over the Montreal Canadiens in the Atlantic Division (though Montreal has two games in-hand on the Lightning) while the Penguins are tied with the New York Islanders at the top of the Metro Division.
This is the rubber game of the season series between the Lightning and Pens as both teams have taken games - the Penguins topped Tampa on December 15th at CONSOL Energy Center while the Bolts outlasted the Penguins at Amalie Arena on December 23rd.
And, yes, both games were affected by the mumps outbreak on the Pittsburgh Penguins roster. Sidney Crosby has returnned to action though, and other players are likely soon to follow.
