Quick Strikes for Tuesday, March 3

Yes, there really were other things that didn't involve the NHL trade deadline that went on yesterday in hockeydom.

Sergei Belski-USA TODAY Sports
  • Jon Stewart. The Daily Show. Slava Fetisov. Hockey. What's not to love, right? Especially for Detroit Red Wings fans. [Kuklas Korner]
  • Everyone talks about teams tanking, but no team actually does that, right? Or, maybe they do...? Maybe the Washington Capitals don't want to talk about it, but former head coach Ron Wilson might. [Puck Daddy]
  • Speaking of juicy rumors, here's one that just won't die. No matter how much they try to distance themselves from this, it still keeps coming up for the Chicago Blackhawks and Patrick Sharp. And that may end up in a lawsuit. [CSN Chicago]
  • Gordie Howe, miracle patient. Or something. Good for him that he's doing much better, but let's all thank science for allowing this happen. [NHL.com]
  • Dear Edmonton Oilers media. We already knew that the Oilers management was incompetent. Glad you're finally on the same page with the rest of us. Love, the rest of the NHL. [Edmonton Journal]
  • Who knew that the Nashville Predators would be such a force to be reckoned with, huh? I mean, seriously, good for them. And also good for hockey in the South, generally speaking. [New York Times]
  • Torn bicep tendon? Wow, that must really suck. Poor Mark Giordano, out for the rest of the season, just as his Calgary Flames are trying to secure a playoff spot in the Western Conference. [NHL.com]
  • It's time to think of, and thank, everyone that makes hockey possible. [Carha Hockey]
