Editor note: In case you were wondering where Quick Strikes has been the past few days -- it was just a temporary hiatus. Life, business and the dead of summer in the hockey world inspired a little break in our daily link post.

  • Michael Stuart, who has been one of the members of the Tampa Bay Lightning blogosphere the past three years, is moving on and moving away from the role of hockey blogger. [Hockey Buzz]
  • There's been a series all summer long on Reddit reviewing NHL teams and their draft history the past 15 years. In recent days, the Tampa Bay Lightning had their drafts, conducted by four different GMs in that time span, reviewed. [tifubyjoiningreddit]
  • Speaking of the draft and drafts of the past, Corey Pronman has ranked the top 10 Lightning prospects. What his ground rules for the rankings are, I don't know... What I do know is that players from the last three drafts are among those in the top 10 (with Brayden Point leading the list). [ESPN Insider (paywall)]
  • While we're on the topic of prospects and youth and all that, defenseman Anthony DeAngelo is kinda sorta good at this sport type notion we call hockey. Real good. [Today's Slap Shot]
  • Oh, by the way, our Top 25 under 25 countdown resumes today. Check out the first 15 entries of the series (which uses the basic guideline of player sunder the age of 25 - the best of'em). [Raw Charge]
  • Craig Custance does those getting antsy about Steven Stamkos' new contract a favor: He gives the missing status of a contract extension some press to help incite worry. [ESPN]
  • Not exactly about the Syracuse Crunch as-so-much the city of Syracuse and its (large) drop in a ranking of top minor-league cities. It's in the top 50, but it fell 32 spots in ranking. []
  • Speaking of minor leagues, the Grand Rapids Griffins, the Detroit Red Wings AHL affiliate, has revamped its logo and uniform. [Winging it in Motown]
  • One of the best women hockey players in the world, Hilary Knight, is up for Sportswoman of the Year; she's one of 10 candidates. [USA Women's Hockey]
  • Speaking of Knight, her enigmatic status of where she'll play next season in women's hockey is part of what has turned the NWHL's "free agent frenzy" into a fizzle. [Watch This Hockey Blog]
  • Goalie Andrew Hammond's latest goalie mask continues to play off his famed nickname... though the assessment of said goalie mask plays off pop culture. Discuss. [In Goal Magazine]
  • Scotiabank Saddledome, home of the Calgary Flames, in Calgary is one of the older buildings in the NHL (opening in the early 1980's, making it much younger than the league's oldest arena - Madison Square Garden), so replacement talk isn't out of sorts or unexpected. Plans for a new arena (and outdoor stadium complex) were revealed Tuesday in Calgary. [Matchsticks and Gasoline]
  • Speaking of the business of the sport, that's one aspect of the Patrick Kane situation that's noteworthy - his antics have cost him millions in endorsements. [Forbes]
  • It was reported Tuesday that athletics-wear company adidas will assume the role of jersey manufacturer for the NHL starting in 2017-18. [TSN]
  • ...And this bothers people with thanks to the talk of advertising becoming part of jerseys in the NHL. [All Habs]
  • The bad-ass-with-a-moustache, George Parros, will be doing an Ask Me Anything (AMA) on Reddit this evening (Eastern time; the time is scheduled for 4 PM pacific). []
