Retired U.S. Air Force Technical Sgt. Sonya Bryson-Kirksey is more than just the voice of the national anthem at Lightning games, she is also a true public servant. “Sonya was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, commonly known as (MS), just before her military career ended. Now, she has dedicated much of her life to lifting her voice for those battling the same disease.” [ABC Action News]

Carolina Hurricanes forward Bryan Bickell was recently diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. San Jose Sharks defenseman Brent Burns is a pending unrestricted free agent facing questions about his future. Steven Stamkos was in the same position last year and believes Burns can handle the pressure. “‘He just loves the game and is always trying to get better.’ Stamkos said of Burns. ‘If there’s a guy that can deal with something like that, it’s him.’” [The Mercury News]
