  • David P. Gilkey, NPR's award-winning photographer, was killed in Afghanistan over the weekend while on assignment. Gilkey used to work for the Detroit Free Press, where he shot iconic sports photos you've probably seen, including Steve Yzerman. [Detroit Free Press]
