The Bolts:

  • Our friends over at Winging it in Motown wrote a season preview on the Tampa Bay Lightning with the help of Raw Charge site manager John Fontana. [Winging it in Motown]
  • One thing that might cause Lightning fans some worry is the fact that Nikita Kucherov remains unsigned. Lightning general manager Steve Yzerman remains “hopeful” he will sign, but time is running out. [Tampa Bay Times]
  • Let’s catch up with Big Ben Bishop, shall we? Bishop discusses the trade that never was, which would have sent him to Calgary. Also, you can find some musings about what might happen to the Bolts’ star goaltender going forward. [Sportsnet]

The NHL:

  • Ah, but Nikita Kucherov isn’t the only RFA still unsigned by his team. Several high profile players from around the NHL still have not signed contracts. [Today’s Slapshot]
  • Things got pretty chippy between Team USA and Team Canada during the World Cup of Hockey tournament in Toronto, and this young fan seemed to enjoy the hell out of it. [Russian Machine Never Breaks]
  • Team USA has been the talk of the tournament recently for some not-so-good reasons, and that makes it hard to cheer for them. [Winging it in Motown]
  • Root for Team North America instead; these are some talented young individuals. Dylan Larkin, for example, brought baseball to the ice rink with some pretty nice hand-eye coordination. [Wings Nation]
  • Ready for an expansion update? It looks like a team in Quebec City is still a possibility in the future. [Puck Drunk Love]
  • While NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly doesn’t foresee any issues with the Collective Bargaining Agreement going forward, “potential storm clouds” could pop up as we get closer to the 2022 expiration date. [Spector’s Hockey]

The Sport:

  • Police and firefighters in Euless, Texas - a suburb of Fort Worth - will come together for a charity hockey game to benefit the family of one of their own. Euless police officer was shot and killed March 1 while responding to a call. [Fort Worth Star-Telegram]
