Dave Andreychuk is a Hall of Famer: “Another year passes and once again Dave Andreychuk is finally not passed over by the Hockey Hall of Fame. It is was bordering on ridiculous at this point that someone who had scored 640 goals in the National Hockey League doesn’t didn’t have a bust in Toronto. "I was actually just leaving the office today on my way back to the Tampa Bay airport to pick up my wife coming back from Buffalo and I saw a 416 number [Toronto area code] at 2 o'clock. Obviously, my heart started to race immediately," Andreychuk said on a conference call. Scotty Bowman says 'it's about time' Andreychuk got HOF call: “Bowman drafted Andreychuk in the first round (16th overall) in 1982, coaching the 6-foot-4 power forward the first five seasons of his career. And now Bowman, who is part of the HOF selection committee, got to see it through that Andreychuk is going to the Hall of Fame.” [Tampa Bay Times]

Tampa Bay Lightning extend qualifying offers to nine players: "Three players weren’t qualified by the Bolts: Dylan Blujus, Jonathan Racine, and Henri Ikonen. Ikonen had already signed with Jokerit in Finland, so it wasn’t a surprise that he wasn’t qualified. Racine was traded to the organization for Nikita Nesterov and a sixth-round pick this past January for some defensive depth for Syracuse. He was probably never meant to stay within the organization." 2017 Draft Profiles: Tampa Bay Lightning’s newest prospects, Nick Perbix, Cole Guttman, and Sammy Walker. "As demonstrated in recent years, Yzerman and company are not afraid to draft college-bound players in the latter stages of the NHL Entry Draft. In addition, they are no strangers to the more undersized prospects of the game—Tyler Johnson and Brayden Point, to name a few—so their selection of Sammy Walker and Cole Guttman does not look all that surprising." The NHL finally did something right. Kariya and Selanne, one of NHL’s most dominant duos, enter Hall of Fame together: "Paul Kariya probably had to wait a couple of years longer than he should have to get his induction into the Hall of Fame, but it was at least fitting that the wait allowed him to enter alongside his long-time running mate, Teemu Selanne."
