2011-2012 was not the best year for the Tampa Bay Lightning as a team, but it was the year Steven Stamkos scored 60(!) goals. “Stamkos would finish the year with 60 goals to win the Rocket Richard trophy becoming the 10th player since the 1992-93 season to score 60 goals in a season. He was also the first since Alex Ovechkin scored 65 in 2007-08. No player has hit the 60 goal plateau since Stamkos’ 2011-12 season.” [Raw Charge]

One of our favourite readers and commenters t.cann112 has been doing a series over at Pensburgh. S/he has been profiling all of the teams in the Metro division. We covered the first three a few days ago, let’s catch up with the next three!
New York Rangers: “The Rangers landed the biggest name in Free Agency with Shattenkirk, and the loss of Dan Girardi is addition by subtraction. That’s a tremendous upgrade for the Rangers, and Brady Skjei and Nick Holden are also taking the Rangers in the right direction on defense. They are now much faster and offensively talented on the blueline, with more help on the way.” [Pensburgh]
Columbus Blue Jackets: “If Dubois can come in and make an impact, there’s no reason to think that Columbus couldn’t win 50 next season, either. Columbus has depth at every position at forward, defense, and goaltender. The Blue Jackets also have several young players who look to be getting better each year, and are finding themselves with golden opportunities to showcase what they’re capable of.” [Pensburgh]
