Shutouts throughout the organization, Tyler Johnson is good at hockey, and more.

Happy New Year! We at Raw Charge want to take the time to thank you for visiting out site on a regular basis. The past year was one of our most successful ones in terms of page views and visits. We are going to strive to make 2018 even better.

Now onto the news!

The Bolts

What a way to finish off 2017. Tyler Johnson netted his 100th goal and Andrei Vasilevskiy notched his 5th shutout of the season as they bested the Columbus Blue Jackets, 5-0. Best of all, the Lightning prevented the Blue Jackets from firing off their canon as they held them scoreless during both visits to Columbus. [Raw Charge]

The Columbus version of the game...not quite as happy with the result [Columbus Dispatch]

Tyler Johnson’s resurgence is a huge part of the team’s success. He closed out the best month of his career by recording 8 goals and 18 points in December. [Tampa Bay Times]

Desktop Schedules...get your January desktop schedules! Anton Stralman and Ryan Callahan are this month’s featured players [Raw Charge]

Louis Domingue is grateful for the chance to play for the Lightning. Joe Smith includes a nice tidbit about Domingue renting ice and practicing with Coyote legend Shane Doan after being placed on waivers by Arizona. [Tampa Bay Times]

It looks like Mikhail Sergachev was happy to have his Swedish buddy, Anton Stralman, back in the lineup. (ed. note - I didn’t see the typo until after it was published. Dang you lack of edit feature!)

The Prospects

Not to be outdone by their parent club, the Syracuse Crunch rolled to their own 5-0 victory over Binghamton. Matthew Peca kicked off the scoring while Alexander Volkov and Mitchell Stephens potted two goals a piece. Connor Ingram stopped 29 shots in route to a shutout of his own. [Syracuse.com]

The Conacher brothers score on the same night. While big brother Cory scored in Columbus for the Lightning, little brother Shane tallied a goal for Adirondack in their 3-0 win against the Reading Royals. [Adirondack Thunder]

The Game

Chad Johnson strapped a GoPro camera to his helmet during the practice for the NHL’s Winter Classic in New York. Get a firsthand view of what it’s like to be a goaltender.

Happy New Year, everyone!
