One prospect’s team is a champion, but sadly the prospect wasn’t on the ice.
As the Terriers beat both Boston College and Providence, John MacLeod watched from the sidelines, not playing in either of the games. Not a coaches favorite this season, he was playing in other games, but didn’t get picked to play in the finals.
Meanwhile, the CHL playoffs start this week and we bid goodbye to two prospects, with Alexey Lipanov and Chris Paquette’s teams failing to reach the post-season.
Ontario Hockey League
#12 - Christopher Paquette (F) - 1G, 0A, -1
Peterborough Petes - 23-39-3-3
March 15th: vs North Bay Battalion
L 5-1 - 0G. 0A, -1
March 16th: @ Oshawa Generals
L 8-4 - 1G, 0A
March 17th: vs Hamilton Bulldogs
L 5-3 - No Points
Second-to-last in a season some fans had hope for, the Petes go back to the drawing board and need to re-tool to bring some respect back to the once great franchise.
#12 - Boris Katchouk (F) / #14 Taylor Raddysh (F)
1G, 1A, +2 / 2G, 1A, -1
xyz - Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds - 55-7-3-3
1st overall in OHL, 1st in Western Conference, 1st in West Division
March 14th: vs Saginaw Spirit
W 8-1 - 1G, 1A, +4 / 1G, 1A, +1
March 16th: vs Flint Firebirds
L 4-3 OT - 0G, 0A, -2 / 1G, 0A, -2
March 18th: vs London Knights
W 6-3 - Did Not Play / No Points
The Greyhounds enter the OHL playoffs as favorites to win the league championship, and there’s no clear threat in the Western Conference to keep them from making it that far. They’ll play the Saginaw Spirit in the first round and should sweep them easily.
#17 - Alexei Lipanov (F) - 0G, 3A, -3
Sudbury Wolves - 17-42-9-0
March 16th: vs North Bay Battalion
L 6-4 - 0G, 0A, -1
March 17th: @ Barrie Colts
L 10-3 - 0G, 2A, -3
March 18th: @ Oshawa Generals
L 4-2 - 0G, 1A, +1
Dead last in the OHL, we can only hope Lipanov gets a better shot at winning next season.
Quebec Major Junior Hockey League

x - Halifax Mooseheads - 43-18-6-1
March 14th: vs Saint John Sea Dogs
W 7-3 - 0G, 1A
March 16th: vs Moncton Wildcats
W 7-4 - 0G, 1A, +1
March 17th: vs Acadie-Bathurst Titan
L 5-4 - 0G, 1A, +2
The Mooseheads didn’t finish as high as it appeared they would earlier in the season, but 4th overall is a good start to the playoffs. They’ll face off against the Baie-Comeau Drakkar who finished almost 30 points behind them.
#19 - Alex Barré-Boulet (F) - 2G, 1A, +2
xyz - Blainville-Boisbriand Armada - 50-11-4-3
1st overall, 1st in West Division
March 12th: @ Gatineau Olympiques

March 17th: @ Gatineau Olympiques
W 5-1 - Did Not Play
March 18th: vs Rimouski Oceanic
W 2-1 SO - No Points
A quiet week for Alex as the season ends, and things are easy for the Armada, as they face off against the Val d’Or Foreurs in the first round of the playoffs. The Foreurs, with a 19-42-5-2 record were 62 points behind the Armada in the standings and don’t look to be the team to break the streak of the 16th seed being swept in the playoffs.
Western Hockey League
#76 - Oleg Susonov (D) - 0G, 1A, -4
xy - Moose Jaw Warriors - 52-15-2-3
1st in East Division, 1st in Eastern Conference, 1st overall

March 16th: vs Brandon Wheat Kings
L 6-5 OT - 0G, 0A, -3
March 17th: @ Brandon Wheat Kings
L 5-4 SO - 0G, 1A, -1
Susonov and the Warriors were the best team in the WHL this season and now they’ll get to face off against the easiest first round opponent. Then, however, they’ll take on the second best team in the WHL. Ah, divisional playoffs.
#25 - Cal Foote (D)
xy - Kelowna Rockets - 43-22-5-2
1st in BC Division
March 14th: vs Prince George Cougars
W 6-3 - 2G, 1A, +3
March 16th: @ Vancouver Giants
W 5-2 - Did Not Play
March 17th: vs Vancouver Giants
W 8-1 - 0G, 2A, +4
The Rockets will take on the Tri-City Americans in round one, a closer match up than the Warriors have, as the Americans were just 8 points behind the Rockets. A trickier time Kelowna, but they have it in them to face Moose Jaw in the WHL Finals.
#19 - Cole Guttman (F)
Dubuque Fighting Saints
Guttman is on IR for the foreseeable future.
#14 - Nicklaus Perbix (D) - 0G, 1A, -2
Omaha Lancers - 31-14-2-3
March 16th: vs Lincoln Stars
L 3-2 SO - 0G, 1A, -1
March 18th: vs Sioux City Musketeers
L 4-3 SO - 0G, 0A, -1
The Lancers almost won their games, falling in the shootout both times this past weekend.
#16 - Johnathan MacLeod (D)
Boston U. Terriers
March 16th: vs Boston College
W 4-3 OT - Did Not Play
March 17th: vs Providence
W 2-0 - Did Not Play
The Terriers won the Hockey East title, but sat MacLeod for the final two games. He’s been in and out of the lineup all season and wasn’t picked to be one of the players for the big games. He’ll hopefully get into the lineup in the hockey bracket as Boston U plays Cornell in their first NCAA playoff game on Friday.
