The only news that has anything to do with the Tampa Bay Lightning from Sunday comes from yesterday’s Quick Strikes. Yes, the only news from Sunday was the news from Saturday.
Despite my bleak tone, I encourage you all to go check out Igor’s write-up on recent draft pick Mikhail Shalagin coming straight to the AHL after being an overage seventh-round pick less than a month ago. [Raw Charge]
Shalagin also participated in the Lightning development camp in June, without having a signed contract with his Russian team HC Spartak Moskva. According to a new report, he’ll be joining the Tampa Bay Lightning organization this summer. Russian hockey writer Igor Eronko assumes that will play for the Syracuse Crunch next season.

Speaking of goalies, this one’s catching some rays. Hopefully Klara put some sunblock on. Maybe a hat, too. Wouldn’t want to get goalie mask tan lines.
Alex Ovechkin is a Stanley Cup Champion and he sat down with the NHL’s Instagram account to talk about the Party that followed the 2018 playoffs.
I guess there was some action in NHL front offices. The Detroit Red Wings signed their off-the-board top ten pick Moritz Seider to an entry-level contract.
And finally, oh yaaayyyyyy....... More Mitch Marner talk. Can’t wait........
