The Bolts
The Tampa Bay Lightning selected defenseman Max Crozier in the fourth round of 2019 NHL Entry Draft. Check out our draft profile on him [Raw Charge]
Crozier was an overage player for this draft, having turned 19 in April. He scored 43 points in 60 games, which put him 5th among defenders in the USHL. Even for an overage player, that’s solid production. His 43 points placed him tied for 5th on the Stampede and their leading defender by 18 points ahead of first round pick Ryan Johnson. At 6’1 194 lbs, he’s right in the optimal range for a player in the modern NHL.
The Game
Forward Marcus Johansson has signed a two year deal with the Buffalo Sabres. He spent the second half of the season with the Boston Bruins.

InGoal Magazine talked to a goalie Marek Mazanec, who was temporarily acquired by the Tampa Bay Lightning as part of the JT Miller trade, about the new CCM skates.
Before the Canucks traded him to the Lightning this summer, we got some footage of Marek Mazanek working on his Reverse with G coach Ian Clark and talking about the new @CCMGoalie skates and XSG holder that he was first to wear in NHL: https://t.co/A4WZcuKPWk

Steven Ellis of the Hockey News shared a list of top five UFA defenseman who are still available [The Hockey News]
With Myers gone, that leaves Jake Gardiner as the bets UFA defender available. The fact that teams haven’t signed the left-handed defender yet is a little curious. A good skater who can run a power play, Gardiner would be a nice addition to many team’s top fours. But as Boston exposed on multiple occasions during Gardiner’s tenure in Toronto, he’s a major liability when trying to dish out the puck and his defensive flaws are glaring… something that isn’t great when your job is to play defense
According to Steve Simmons, Sportsnet might not renew Don Cherry’s contract. In other news: Nazem Kadri declined a trade with the Calgary Flames and Auston Matthews doesn’t want to play with Kasperi Kapanen. But this is all coming from Steve Simmons so let’s take it with the biggest grain of salt we can find.
Steve Simmons is reporting that SN hasn't renewed Don Cherry's expensive contract and may not do so given how much $ Rogers is losing on the NHL TV deal. Barrie wants 8M on his next deal, Kadri deal nixed was for Brodie and Jankowski, Matthews doesnt want to play with Kap anymore pic.twitter.com/af5XidETW1

Roberto Luongo is still adapting to his new life without hockey.
I’m floored by the fact that in a two months span I went from being a fine tuned professional athlete to only wearing shorts with an elastic band.......
