Let’s Do That Hockey Podcast: Hardev joins Chris and Avry to discuss hockey culture

Avry and I joined friend-of-the-blog Chris’ podcast for an emergency session to talk about the news yesterday.

Washington Mystics v Atlanta Dream
PALMETTO, FLORIDA - AUGUST 26: Nneka Ogwumike, president of the The Women’s National Basketball Players Association, addresses players from the Atlanta Dream, Washington Mystics, Minnesota Lynx, and the Los Angeles Sparks as they kneel on the court after the teams collectively decided to postpone games at Feld Entertainment Center on August 26, 2020 in Palmetto, Florida. Several sporting leagues across the nation today are postponing their schedules as players protest the shooting of Jacob Blake by Kenosha, Wisconsin police.

On Wednesday, Chris invited Avry and myself for what felt like an historic podcast to discuss the NBA and WNBA’s strike for racial justice and the NHL’s simultaneous lack of action. We also discussed Logan Couture’s blow up on Twitter and his attitudes towards Donald Trump and anyone who disagrees with him — cleverly named Cancel Couture.

We also had a very thoughtful and difficult discussion on where we go from here and how Black people (like Chris and Avry), and people of color (like myself), can find a home in the hockey world when all anyone can do is drag their feet when it comes to the human rights of us minorities.

We really appreciate your support.
