It was always a long shot for Coleman to stay in Tampa, but this seals it. Go get your money, Blake, this is the first big contract of your career, you’ve earned it and some.
His two seasons with the Lightning were short, but it was also concluded with two Cups. Coleman was originally acquired from New Jersey for Nolan Foote and the 2020 first round pick that ended up being Shakir Mukhamadullin. It was a steep price to pay, but I don’t think anyone has any regrets.
Thanks for the memories, Blake, including your superman goals.
The Lightning will now look to replace Coleman on the third line either with internal or external options. We’ll keep you posted as players get signed, and hopefully some are with the Tampa Bay Lightning.
