Ben Bishop leaves Toronto game after apparent injury

Just minutes into the first period, Lightning goaltender Ben Bishop was injured after an awkward landing on a save. Extending to catch a puck towards his left, Bishop landed on his glove-side wrist or shoulder and the trouble was immediately clear. He was helped off the ice holding his left arm awkwardly, and Anders Lindback has come on in relief.

We have no indication at this point of the seriousness or exact nature of this injury. But we will update as necessary.

Should Bishop be out for an extended period of time, we can expect Kristers Gudlevskis to get recalled from the Syracuse Crunch to partner with Anders Lindback for the interim. There has been a great deal of speculation about the team’s confidence in Lindback and the possibility that Gudlevskis might get a call in the face of an apparent unwillingness to play Lindback.

All of that is speculation, however, and it would be uncommon for such a thing to occur. At any rate, we will have to wait for more word to even know how serious Bishop’s injury really is.
