Ben Bishop starting in net for the Lightning tonight (…and tomorrow?)

It was brought up in the game preview this morning how the arrangement, the very schedule, is an awkward one for tonight and tomorrow. A very taxing ordeal for the Lightning to play against a well rested foe tonight and then play the reigning Stanley Cup Champions tomorrow in Chicago.

So, the lineup needs to feature rested assets and you’d think Kevin Poulin would get a start in this series, specifically today when the lineup is less taxed in front of him.

Wrong.

This does not seem like a wise move. I’m not trying to suggest the Jets are a weak opponent — you’re not 4-2-0 by luck alone — but today, with the fresher roste rin general, you’d think the backup would start while the @1 starter would play with the weaker team in front of him tomorrow.

Does coach Jon Cooper lack faith in Poulin or is he that sold on starting his goalie until the goaltender sayshe needs a break? A goalie showing a .905 save percentage in 7 starts looks like he should get a day off (especially in bakc-to-back games), not ridden into the ground.

And if Kevin Poulin does not have the faith or trust to tend the net, why did he remain on the roster instead of being waived with Kristers Gudlevskis recalled? Why was he ever claimed, that much doubt in Gudlevskis too?
