Per several NHL sources, the New York Rangers have opted to buy out the contract of former Tampa Bay Lightning forward Brad Richards:

Speculation will begin about where Richards will head next — like Vincent Lecavalier before him, he’s still a useful NHLer just not at the price he was costing against the cap.
However, with the current depth chart of quality centermen in the Lightning organization, a return to Tampa Bay seems unlikely.
