Crisis averted: Disney On Ice dates re-scheduled

Whether you’re a Lightning fan with little ones or if you’re a Lightning fan who wants to focus solely on the task at hand or if you’re just a huge Woody and/or Buzz fan (there’s no judgment here; I’m a Team Buzz guy myself), you may have been keeping an eye nervously on one particular storyline developing around the NHL Eastern Conference Finals: the potential conflict of dates between the Tampa Bay Lightning‘s series with the Boston Bruins and “Disney On Ice presents Disney/Pixar’s Toy Story 3”.

Well, breathe easy; management at the St. Pete Times Forum and event promoter Feld Entertainment have worked out a new schedule that will accomodate both events at the Forum next week.

There were probably a couple tense moments as this was hashed out, but ultimately this kind of thing is not all that unusual and it was in both parties’ interest to come up with a solution, which is what they did. Four performances were cancelled (new show schedule as well as ticket refund/exchange policies listed below) and a new opening night was added.

Surely, Feld Entertainment would rather be flexible than risk alienating potential patrons who are currently whipping themselves into a frenzy over the Lightning. And as for the Forum, anybody who’s lived in Florida for any length of time knows you don’t want to step too hard on The Mouse’s toes.

“Feld Entertainment has enjoyed performing for Tampa Bay families at the St. Pete Times Forum for more than 10 years. We are happy to adjust our schedule to support the Tampa Bay Lightning and still perform for our Disney On Ice fans.” — Bill Powell, VP, Event Marketing & Sales, South Region, Feld EntertainmentThe performances originally scheduled for Thursday, May 19th (7:00 PM), Friday, May 20th (7:00 PM) and Saturday, May 21st (11:00 AM, 3:00 PM & 7:00 PM) have been cancelled. Refunds will be given for those performances. Ticketholders interested in attending another performance will need to buy new tickets.

The new opening night will be on Wednesday, May 18th at 7:00 PM. Tickets for that show will go on sale Monday, May 16th at 10:00 AM.

COMPLETE REVISED SCHEDULE

  • Wednesday, May 18th, 7:00 PM
  • Sunday, May 22nd, 1:00 PM & 5:00 PM/
