Forget the logo, changes coming to the Forum too

In two separate articles in the two local daily newspapers in the Tampa Bay area, more word leaked out about the postponed press conference from earlier this week, and the changes that were to be announced.

Not just uniform changes, but changes at Times Palace.

The arena, which is already in an ongoing renovation project to replace flooring through the building, is to undergo more extensive changes. From Tony Fabrazio at the Tampa Tribune:

* A continuation of the makeover of the Forum that began last summer, including new seats and decorative flooring on the lower and upper concourses. Mixing in a touch of nostalgia as well, there's an old-time pipe organ coming.

• An 11,000-square-foot party deck overlooking the plaza.

A party deck seems to make sense knowing how much emphasis the team puts on the western plaza outside the arena and... wait a second,w ait a second. Did I read this right? Pipe organ?!

From Damian Cristodero at the Times

>.... A 11,000 square-foot party deck is planned and a pipe organ for in-game entertainment. No word on whether it will match the strength of the organ at the old Chicago Stadium.

All of this will come out in full next week in a series of announcements from the team. Expect, then, the unveiling of the new jersey designs as well.

There's more information about those new Lightning uniform designs in the above links, but it's nothing that we haven't already heard: Blue and white, minus the black and silver, laces, "Tampa Bay" appearing only on the away crest...
