Jonathan Drouin suspended by Tampa Bay Lightning organization
From the official Tampa Bay Lightning press release that just was sent out:
Tampa Bay Lightning forward Jonathan Drouin has been suspended indefinitely without pay by the team after his failure to report for tonight’s game between the Syracuse Crunch and the Toronto Marlies, vice president and general manager Steve Yzerman announced this evening. The team will make no further comment at this time.
Drouin was set to participate in the Syracuse Crunch's game against the Toronto Marlies this evening in Toronto . It was noted that Drouin participated in the morning skate but was not part of the pregame skate. When that news came out, the hockey media went abuzz with possible reasons for such -- trade, injury, illness. A suspension was not named a reason for it.
Drouin has 2 goals and 1 assist in his time with the Crunch.
What could have happened or transpired to lead to Drouin's antics tonight is up to the imagination. One thing that is abundantly clear now is that Drouin's value in trade is dropping like a rock.
UPDATE: Drouin's agent, Allan Walsh of Octagon Sports, released a statement that's been tweeted out ot the masse through media. (Thanks to Antoine Vermette in comments for sharing):
