Lightning close out 2013 with final four selections
The Tampa Bay Lightning used their six picks in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft to select five forwards and a goaltender.
The Lightning wrapped up activities at the 2013 NHL Entry Draft in New Jersey with the selection of three more forwards and a goaltender. Their first two picks, Jonathan Drouin (first round, third overall) and Adam Erne (second round, 33rd overalll) were also forwards.
In the fifth round, the Lightning used the 124th overall pick to select goaltender Kristers Gudlevskis of Latvia. He appeared in 56 games with Riga-2 of the Russian Junior League where he posted a 2.09 goals against average and a save percentage of .927.
In the sixth round, they used the 154th pick to select forward Henri Ikonen. A native of Finland, Ikonen posted 22 goals and 29 assists in 61 games for the Kingston Frontenacs of the Ontario Hockey League.
The Lightning had two picks in the seventh and final round. They used the first of those (184th overall) to draft Saku Salminen who played 13 games with Jokerit of the Finnish Elite League last season,
Their final selection came two picks later and was used to take Joel Vermin who played for Bern in of Switzerland's National League-A last season. He notched 13 goals and 22 assists there in 47 games.
The Lightning did not have draft choices in the third and fourth rounds due to previously completed trades.
