Lightning goaltender Ben Bishop injured in game against Red Wings

Seriously, who turned the hockey gods against against the Tampa Bay Lightning this season?

The latest player to go down for the Lightning since November is goaltender Ben Bishop, who left the game with a little more than halfway through Tuesday’s first period against the Red Wings. It appears he got injured after making a save from a shot by Nick Jensen.

After Bishop was replaced by Andrei Vasilevskiy, the Lightning announced Bishop is out with a lower-body injury.

Naturally, people tweeted about it.

Allow Michael Scott to sum up all the feelings.

We’ll update as soon as we know more, including if/when the Lightning recall a goalie from Syracuse, likely Kristers Gudlevskis.

Tuesday’s game was Jensen’s NHL debut. And there’s really no words to what happened after Bishop left the game — Wings goalie Jimmy Howard gets injured after he collides with the Lightning’s Erik Condra and … Jensen. Howard was replaced by Petr Mrazek. So both backup goaltenders are now in net for their respective teams.

Lightning captain Steven’s Stamkos injury in mid-November was coincidentally against the Red Wings as well.
