Lightning Round: The Top 25 is under way and Alex Killorn chats about his career

As we cruise through September our Top 25 Under 25 series is officially under way with Nick Malik leading things off. For the record, Victor Hedman placed second on our inaugural list. There was a pretty good reason why he wasn’t first – a young man by the name of Steven Stamkos.

It was a rather slow news day around the league, but here is a quick wrap up of what was going on out there in the hockey world.

When I saw the title, I had a feeling Ron Duguay’s name might pop up. Uncle Phil’s buddy from his New York Rangers’ days tried to give it one more shot, but injuries kept him off the inaugural roster.

Killer chats with Chris Nilan and Tim Stapleton about growing up a Canadiens fan, why he attended Harvard, his career with the Lightning, and golf. He was apparently in Steph Curry’s playing group when the NBA star holed one out at the American Century Celebrity Golf Championship at Lake Tahoe (Curry won the tournament and Killorn finished a respectable 23rd).

A few of the guys took in the Florida State game the other night.

Patrick Kane in Detroit? [John Dietz Twitter]

Dietz covers the Blackhawks for the the Daily Herald in Chicago and reports that Kane may be interested in a reunion with Alex DeBrincat, who is now in Detroit. While the Red Wings may not be considered a contender it could be a good spot for Kane to get his legs back under him after offseason surgery.
