Lightning Round: Gone Fishin’

The point of view of the camera is behind a fishing rod pointing out towards a body of water with a rocky, tree-lines shore.

The nice thing about this long break for the Tampa Bay Lightning is that they get some time away from the ice. They also get to go fishing. Jon Cooper’s annual Coop’s Catch for Kids fishing tournament was held yesterday, and everyone was on the water having a good time.

In the seven years that this event has been held, more than $750,000 has been raised for families dealing with pediatric cancer. First year participator Cam Atkinson looked like he had a good time reeling one in:

NHL Three Stars of the Week [NHL]

Connor Hellebuyck (3 wins, 2 shutouts), Nathan MacKinnon (9 points), Ukko-Pekka Luuklonen (3 wins, 1.30 GAA) were your three stars of the week last week. If you need any proof that goaltenders are weird, UPL gave up as many goals yesterday (4 on 18 shots) as he did all last week (4 on 90 shots).

Don’t expect the Global Series to go anywhere anytime soon. In fact, you might start seeing more of them during the regular season as the league tries to increase its international footprint. As for the CBA, the league and the players’ association are still on track to begin discussions after the first of the year.

Death. Taxes. Cory Conacher scoring. Well, it looks like Conacher is swapping arguing with officials with arguing with general managers as he announced the launch of his hockey agency.
