Yesterday, the Orlando Solar Bears revealed their schedule for the 2023-24 season, however, as it’s said in the statement, it’s just a preliminary draft, which could change during the offseason, pending the release of the Orlando Magic schedule. For the time being the season opening is schedule for October 19, when the Solar Bears will host the Florida Everblades at AdventHealth Rink at Amway Center.

The season will continue from October to April, with the last game of the regular season is scheduled for April 14, 2024, when the Solar Bears will visit the Reading Royals.

The Solar Bears finished their 2022-23 season sixth in the South Division, 16 points behind the last playoff spot. It was fourth consecutive season, when the Solar Bears didn’t make the playoffs.

The unofficial start of the offseason is already next week, as the NHL teams must sign undrafted players by June 1 in order to keep their signing rights. Cameron McDonald is the only Lightning prospects, who falls into that category.

A 20-year-old center started the previous season with the Saint John Sea Dogs in QMJHL, but was traded on December 30 to the Gatineau Olympiques. Overall he played 58 regular season games in the QMJHL this season, scoring 29 goals and 56 points in them. He also participated in the 2023 Gilles-Courteau Trophy playoffs with the Olympiques, scoring 8 (5+3) points in 13 games. The Olympiques made to the semi-finals, but was swept by the Quebec Remparts on that stage.
