Lightning Round: Pietrangelo and Nurse suspended, Canes in, Reynolds out?
The Ryan Reynolds bid led by Toronto developer Remington Group is starting to fall apart as the Ottawa Senators rejected exclusive negotiating rights on the deal involving Canadian Tire Centre and the City of Ottawa. There's a lot of complicated stuff going on that I don't really understand, but there's a long list of billionaire groups looking to buy the team.

Alex Pietrangelo and Darnell Nurse will both miss Game 5 as the Golden Knights and Oilers are tied at two in their series. Pietrangelo got his suspension for intending to injure Draisaitl with a two-handed stick chop miles away from the puck in a blowout game. Nurse got it for answering Nik Hague's demand to be fought. I can't say I understand these suspensions. The League had the option to not enforce the automatic suspension that came from the instigator (which I believe was incorrectly handed out).
Edmonton’s Darnell Nurse has been automatically suspended for one game and Coach Jay Woodcroft has been fined $10,000 under rule 46.21, Instigating in Final Five Minutes of Regulation.

Not really a surprise Vasilevskiy is not. in the running for the Vezina after a poor year. This year's nominees are Hellebuyck, Sorokin, and Ullmark. According to the major models, Saros, Shesterkin, and Gustavsson should be the honorable mentions.
2023 Vezina Trophy finalists: Connor Hellebuyck (WPG), Ilya Sorokin (NYI) and Linus Ullmark (BOS).

NHL Playoffs
Carolina Hurricanes 3-2 (OT) over New Jersey Devils
CAR wins series 4-1
The Hurricanes are in the Conference Finals once again with a shocking series win over the Devils in only five games. The Hurricanes have made the third round five times since becoming a team in 1997, three of which were Finals appearances. Their last appearance in the Conference Finals was in 2019 when the team made their long awaited return to the playoffs.
Cue the storm surge!

Erik Haula for the Devils is becoming the new Marian Hossa or Corey Perry. He's been eliminated by the Hurricanes three times in a row. Before this season with the Devils, Haula was in the playoffs with the Boston Bruins and lost with them in the first round. The year before, he was in Nashville during the bubble season and lost to the Hurricanes in the first round, as well.
Haula has been in the playoffs five times in the last six years with five different teams. The first year was the Golden Knights magical run to the finals, he lost in the first round three times, and in the second round this year. Despite the poor luck, Haula is a good second liner good teams will want.
Erik Haula becomes the 1st player in Stanley Cup playoff history to be eliminated by the same opponent in 3 consecutive postseasons while playing for 3 different teams.

Dallas Stars 5-2 over Seattle Kraken
DAL leads 3-2
Game 5 between the Stars and Kraken went the way of the Stars after a strong start to the game and holding the lead the rest of the way.
Tonight we'll see who between the Oilers and Golden Knights can get into elimination territory, and if the Panthers can also win their series 4-1, or if Toronto can push a third series in the second round to 3-2.
The Portland Winterhawks have drafted the first American girl into the WHL, drafting 15-year-old Morgan Stickney out of Shattuck's St. Mary's U16 team. The American Stickney had a .928 in 33 games in the USHS (US High School) junior league.
Fun fact, there's another American Morgan Stickney, a 3x gold medal paralympic swimmer on the US national team who was at the 2020 Olympics.
With pick #215, we're proud to select goaltender Morgan Stickney!

Edmonton had the opportunity to do the funniest thing and they did it. The Edmonton Oil Kings drafted Jarome Iginla's son Joe Iginla (14) in the WHL Draft. The Calgary Hitmen had the chance to draft the Flames legend's son, but passed on him. Joe had 65 points in 27 games at the U15 level. Older brother, Tij Iginla (16), plays for the Seattle Thunderbirds and played for Canada at the U17 world hockey championships.
Iginla's daughter, Jade Iginla (18), won gold at the U-18 World Championships with Canada last winter. She also played at Shattuck's St. Mary's in the USHS a few years ago and is committed to Brown University.
Hockey runs deep in that family. Iggy's developing a dynasty in the making.
