Lightning Round: Quotes from Game 2’s loss

Stamkos brings the optimism and focus following a tough loss in Game 2 of the Tampa Bay Lightning’s first round series against the Toronto Maple Leafs. The series now switches to Tampa for Games 3 and 4.

Yeah, I’m not surprised at all that Vasilevskiy stayed in for all seven goals against.

To be quite honest, Coop, I wouldn’t against what the Leafs put up 1-2-3. Gotta find a different way to beat them.

The Lightning need to figure out why they lost. Spoiler alert, it’s not whatever Maroon or Perry did in the final 10 minutes of the third. The game was lost long before that stuff and that’s what the team will need to focus on. Maybe one area of focus will be the Lightning going 0/2 on the power play while the Leafs scored on two of their man advantage chances in the first two periods.

Cooper expects the scores to get tighter as the series goes on. The little things, the small mistakes, will matter more now.

Here is my recap from the game. Covering the goals, the fights, and what the Lightning need to do better on Saturday.

Recap: Seven for in Game 1, Seven against in Game 2
The Toronto Maple Leafs got back at the Tampa Bay Lightning with a 7-2 blowout in Game #2 of their first round series to tie the series at 1-1.

Congrats to the Lightning for being one of the top teams with embellishment calls this season. Ross Colton got hit with it a lot. Leafs up there, too, with Bunting.

Roope Hintz of the Dallas Stars played a season with the Tampa Bay Juniors. He scored a playoff hat trick the other night.

ESPN’s Emily Kaplan spoke with Pierre-Edouard’s journey to the NHL and the role his mother played in making him a professional hockey player
