Lightning Round: Steven Stamkos passes Vinny Lecavalier on franchise scoring list

The Lightning fell to the Avalanche in a shootout.

After recording a goal and assist in yesterday’s game against the Colorado Avalanche, the Tampa Bay Lightning’s captain Steven Stamkos moved to a second place on the list of scoring leaders in franchise history.

With 875 points (443+432), Stamkos has now passed Vincent Lecavalier, who held second place before. Stamkos is now 78 points behind Martin St. Louis — all time scoring leader in Lightning history.

Steven Stamkos currently holds the Lightning’s record for the most goals scored (443), most power play goals (167), most even strength goals (271) and most hat tricks (9). He’s also third on the list of players with the most assists in franchise history (432) and third on the list of players with the most games played in the Lightning’s jersey (846)

The Tampa Bay Lightning took the reigning President’s Trophy winner Colorado Avalanche to the shootout, but ultimately lost in the skills competition, 4-3. In a game where the Lightning once again gave up the opening goal and were forced to play from behind, it never felt like the Lightning were out of it. They were always within one goal and tied the game three times with gutsy goals from key players. While not ideal, the start of the season has been difficult, but there has been marked improvement by this group and the point the team got from this game is another step in the right direction.

Alex Barre-Boulet, who was recently claimed back by the Lightning, is excited to be back in Tampa.
