Lightning Round: Syracuse Crunch eliminated from the Calder Cup playoffs

On Saturday night, the Rochester Americans defeated the Syracuse Crunch in overtime of Game 5 of the North Division Semifinals at the Upstate Medical University Arena, eliminating them from the Calder Cup playoffs.


The Crunch rallied back after a 3-0 deficit at the start of the second period and forced an overtime with Trevor Carrick’s goal with 30 seconds to go in the third period. Unfortunately the luck turned away from them in overtime as Lawrence Pilut scored the game-winning goal on the power play after 11:35 minutes of action.

Alex Barre-Boulet led the Crunch players with two points in this game. Max Lagace was replaced by Hugo Alnefelt in the net after allowing four goals, Alnefelt made nine saves on ten shots after entering the game.


NHL Playoffs

Edmonton Oilers 5 – 1 Vegas Golden Knights – series tied 1-1

The Oilers tied their series against Vegas after defeating them 5-1 on Saturday night. Leon Draisaitl scored two more goals in this game, bringing his total of goals to 13 in eight playoff games. Connor McDavid scored two goals and added an assist, while Zach Hyman recorded three assists yesterday. Ivan Barbashev scored the only goal of the night for the Golden Knights.

The New York Rangers have parted ways with their head coach Gerard Gallant.


Therefore all the 2022 Jack Adams Award finalists had been relieved from duties in their teams.


Reportedly, the Rangers will not pursue Joel Quenneville as a potential replacement for Gallant.


The 4th overall pick in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft Luke Hughes will make his NHL playoff debut in Game 3 against the Carolina Hurricanes tonight.
