Links: Two rookies in Norfolk, two different stories

The reaction I saw last night on Twitter about the new jersey’s seems pretty split between liking them and hating them. Does it seem like the younger fans, like under 30 seem to like them, and the over 30 years olds not seem to be so hot on it? I personally love them.

In today’s links are stories on two rookies in Norfolk, Mark Barberio and Johan Harju, but that’s where similarities end as one is impressing his coaches and the other is about to give up on his NHL dream.

Your Lightning and NHL links after the jump…

Lightning links:

Rookie Mark Barberio of the Norfolk Admirals has been impressing Norfolk coach Jon Cooper and Steve Yzerman (Bolt Prospects)

Another Lightning prospect, Johan Harju may be about to give up on his NHL dream and head back to Sweden soon (Bolt Prospects translates a report from Aftonbladet.se)

  • With six goals in eight games before the All-Star break, Simon Gagne had begun to find his stride. Something you learn about the team when reading an article about Simon Gagne: even after the last game before the break, instead of getting the night off after their win over the Leafs, the team still had to hit the gym after the game because Boucher shouted “We want it more. We need it.” (TBO.com)
  • If you missed it last week, Kayem Foods became the official hot dog of the Tampa Bay Lightning
  • There was some All-Star fails at the All-Star game, like CBC labeling Steven Stamkos as being part of the Philadelphia Flyers or the NHL Superskills introduction of Patrick Sharp as a Columbus Blue Jacket
