Goaltender Mike Smith cleared waivers earlier today. The Tampa Bay Lightning and Norfolk Admirals had both announced that Smith had been re-assigned to the AHL team, but both franchises retracted their re-assignment releases shortly after.

Goalie Mike Smith has been re-assigned to Norfolk of the American Hockey League after clearing waivers today. There is no telling if he will dress for tonight’s game agains the Charlotte Checkers.
The ripple effect of this move has not yet come into play — there has been no announcement of Jaroslav Janus being sent to the ECHL Florida Everblades, nor any final decision on Cedrick Desjardins shoulder situation (surgery? rehab?). Stay tuned..
