NHL postpones Boston Bruins versus Tampa Bay Lightning game

New England got rocked by a blizzard that The Weather Channel is affectionately called “Nemo”. And while the greater Boston area was snowed in, and an outright travel ban was in place within the city, the Tampa Bay Lightning still managed to find a way to have a morning skate at TD Garden in preparation for the their game against the Bruins.

The contest had already been rescheduled from a 1 PM matinée to 7 PM in the evening. And now, by decree of the National Hockey league, the game has been postponed. In a way, that is a break for the Lightning as it no longer has to play back-to-back games at this time. It’s a challenge for the team and the franchise because now they have to find a way to get from snowed-in Boston to less-snowed-in New York City for tomorrow’s game against the New York Rangers.

We’ll keep you posted as to the rescheduling of this game when that information becomes available.

TAMPA BAY AT BOSTON GAME POSTPONED

TORONTO (February 9, 2013) — Today’s game between the Tampa Bay
Lightning and Boston Bruins at the TD Garden, NHL Game No. 154, has been
postponed due to the weather-related State of Emergency that remains in
effect in Boston.

A make-up date will be announced as soon as it can be confirmed.

Although both Clubs and the assigned on-ice officials are in Boston,
travel conditions remain too hazardous for fans, security personnel and TD
Garden staff to get to the arena.
