One Has to Wonder
After the Thornton Signing and the money he got -- just what dollar amount is the "home town discount" that Kent Hughes, Vincent Lecavalier's Agent, talking about?
Though parameters are laid out and a deal in principle is there for a one year contract, Vinny has already stated he'd prefer to be in Tampa long term and Kent Hughes and Jay Feaster are working on that contract right now. With the likes of Jerome Ignila getting $7 million, Thornton commanding $6.666 million a year in his three year deal, one has to wonder if the "discount price" for Lecavalier is 5-and-a-half million a year or less?
That's still a huge chunk of change - but certainly less than what Lecavalier could command and receive in the current Anarchy of the NHL
