Orlando Solar Bears sign forward Trevor Olson

The Orlando Solar Bears have signed right winger Trevor Olson for the 2018-19 season. Olson is a 24 year old native of Duluth, Minnesota. Having come up through the USHL and NCAA hockey, Olson made his professional debut last spring with the South Carolina Stingrays of the ECHL.

Olson put up 26 goals and 71 points in 91 USHL games for the Green Bay Gamblers and Sioux City Musketeers. He served as Captain of the Musketeers for the 2013-14 campaign. New Tampa Bay Lightning assistant coach Derek Lalonde served as his head coach when he was with Green Bay.

After finishing up his career in the USHL, Olson moved on to the power house University of North Dakota in NCAA hockey. He didn’t see the ice much in his freshman season and scored just three goals in 19 games. As a Sophomore, he tallied four assists in 36 games. He finally saw some more success as a junior and senior with 16 points in 38 games as a junior and 12 points in 28 games as a senior while wearing an A as an Alternate Captain. UND won NCHC regular season championships in his freshman and sophomore seasons and won the national championship in his sophomore season.

Olson makes the ninth forward that the Solar Bears have under contract for the 2018-19 season.
