Photo gallery: Calder Cup Finals game 5, Syracuse Crunch vs Grand Rapids

One common thought seemed to resonate in every player’s head in the Syracuse Crunch dressing room before this past Saturday’s game 5 at the Onondaga County War Memorial: Give the fans one more win at home.

The Crunch did just that, and they did it in spades. Winning 5-1, the victory brought Syracuse’s playoff home ice record to 11-1, just one win shy of perfect. During the regular season, the Crunch was 23-9-2-4 on home ice.

The players have had so much to say about the fan support during this past season and into the playoffs. It was absolutely a meaningful moment for those in blue to see the Crunch protect their barn like they did on Saturday.

The Crunch plays in Grand Rapids tonight. Syracuse must win to extend the series to a winner-take-all game 7 tomorrow night. Fans who watched them win Saturday know, without a doubt, that they can do this.

Don’t believe me? Check out these gorgeous photos from Scott Thomas. This team isn’t done yet. Not even close.
