Quick Strikes: Amalie Arena hosted the Bolts Brew Fest
Was it good? We don’t know, pretty sure everyone was having too good a time to write about it.
The Bolts
Yesterday, the iceless floor of Amalie Arena was given over to beer for the Bolts Brew Fest. From the photos in the #boltsbrewfest tag on Twitter, looks like it was a fantastic time. Nobody from the Raw Charge staff attended, sadly, so if you have a story, feel free to slide it into a fanpost.
What a night, friends. 🍻

In other tangential-to-hockey stuff, Alex Killorn took part in street hockey in Montreal the other day, joining fellow Montreal-dweller Jonathan Drouin for the game against players in the ATP. "The NHL players - counting among them the Ottawa Senators' Alex Burrows, the Tampa Bay Lightning's Alex Killorn, the Dallas Stars' Antoine Roussel, the Florida Panthers' Jonathan Huberdeau and former Canadien Donald Audette - won it 5-4." [NHL]
Our pal Franklin at FanRagSports wrote a piece about Brayden Point. "The Tampa Bay Lightning have been one of the most well-run teams in the league during general manager Steve Yzerman’s time there. They don’t have a Stanley Cup to show for it during his tenure yet, but the squad always seems to move assets at the right time while promoting from within." [FRS]

The Crunch
Yesterday the Syracuse Crunch media took each other on at the #StreetCrunch media Came. Team Tamurian defeated Team Axe, 11-10.

Top 5+1 One-and-Done Lightning
Our penultimate 5+1 was the +1 -- Antero Niittymaki. "When I came up with my list, it was fairly easy to pick five skaters and rank them. The tough part came when I checked up on the goalies and Antero Niitymaki stood out. But where to place him in the list? Who do I bump out? Instead of making the hard decisions, I decided, why not just add a +1 to the list?" [Raw Charge]
The Game
The arbitrators have decided. Nate Schmidt will recieve $2.25 million from the Vegas Golden Knights for his services next season... and the season after. “Schmidt was one of 30 NHL players to file for arbitration, but was the only player who had his case reach that level. He made $875,000 last year with the Capitals. With the signing, Vegas now has all players picked from the expansion draft under contract for the 2017-18 season.” [Knights on Ice]

We miss you, Marshmallow. THW wrote a profile of how he became a Golden Knight. "It’s been a whirlwind of a career for Marchessault before landing in Vegas. By 2011, the Quebec product was 20-years-old and had not been chosen in the NHL Draft. He caught on with Connecticut Whale of the American Hockey League, and after a season turned that into a three-year deal with the Columbus Blue Jackets." [THW]
The Sochi Hockey Open is happening, and some former NHL players are vying for a spot on their national team. "Instead of Crosby and company gathering in Calgary for Mike Babcock's ball-hockey strategy sessions, a bunch of Canadian hopefuls will play in the Sochi Hockey Open, a tournament that is part of the Kontinental Hockey League's pre-season schedule."
