The Bolts

After passing through the worst of Hurricane Irma, Florida residents woke up to assess and begin repairing the damages to their homes the storm caused. That is no different for the Tampa Bay Lightning’s home: Amalie Arena. “Several residents and fans drove by the building Monday morning and reported that it did not appear the building suffered much damage to the outside.” [Raw Charge]

The Crunch

Single game seats for the Syracuse Crunch will be going on sale in a few hours!

The Syracuse Crunch have added another person to their front office. Matthew Thompson has been hired as an account executive. “Thompson will be responsible for selling ticket packages and single game tickets along with booking groups. The Game

At a golf tournament on Monday, Montreal Canadiens head coach Claude Julien and GM Marc Bergevin insisted that natural winger, Jonathan Drouin, will be starting at center, and natural centerman, Alex Galchenyuk, will be permanently placed at wing. [NHL dot com]

“I just want to be clear on this, I didn’t make that trade to say well, [Drouin] will be our next center. No matter where he plays, I would have made that trade because getting a young player with that skill level, it doesn’t come that often, and especially a French-Canadian kid that wants to be here, wants to be successful, it’s something that I couldn’t pass on.” – Marc Bergevin

The New Jersey Devils have signed 23-year-old defenseman Damon Severson to a six-year deal worth $25 million. Severson will carry a cap hit of $4.167 million until the end of the 2023 season. “For a very affordable price, a long-term for meshing, and a speedier and constantly improving offense, Severson will get every opportunity he needs to make this contract well worth the money.” [All About The Jersey]

Justin Cuthbert of Puck Daddy blog looks at which teams improved this offseason, and which teams did not. “Unfortunately, there are severe repercussions for those who assemble superior teams. After maybe their most devastating postseason exit, the two-time Presidents’ Trophy-winning Capitals felt this reality in spades.” [Puck Daddy]
