The Bolts
Sunday’s loss to the Bruins had a couple of bright spots – namely Jonathan Drouin and Brayden Point. Drouin felt confident about his game, “Every time I stepped on the ice, the puck seemed to find me. I want to shoot more, get some good shots.” Point continued to impress Cooper, “Point is a natural center. We put him in there, and once again, he didn’t disappoint.” [Tampa Bay Times]

The NHL’s newest team doesn’t have a coach or a roster yet, but it’s got plenty of controversy. It turns out the Army may not want the name of their parachute team (Golden Knights) associated with the Vegas franchise. “We understand that one of the Las Vegas team owners has Army connections, and will likely understand our interest in this announcement is meant to protect the proud history of the Army’s Golden Knights and their vital role in telling the Army story and connecting America with their Army.” [Military.com]
Kelsey Koelzer and Sarah Nurse are two black women who play collegiate hockey. They understand their place as role models and are more than happy to embrace that responsibility. “I really do take pride in the fact that I could be a mentor and a model for other young girls, to see it really is possible if you put the work in no matter your situation or where you’re from,” said Koelzer. It looks like the Al Murray and the rest of the Lightning amateur scouts will be heading to Edmonton in the summer of 2018. “Hockey Canada and the Edmonton Oilers have landed the world’s premier hockey tournament for draft eligible players. The Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup, a showcase for under-18-year-olds, will move to Canada every second summer starting in 2018.” [Sportsnet]
New Jersey Devils center Adam Henrique designed some very strange goalie pads for Devils netminder Keith Kinkaid. When Kinkaid decided to go in another (more conventional) direction, Henrique gifted his unique design to this young goalie instead. [Puck Daddy]
