Quick Strikes: Former Lightning forward Ryan Malone signs PTO with Minnesota
Budaj and Sustr speak to the media, Zaripov wants to come to Tampa Bay, and IT’S FINALLY SEPTEMBER.
The Bolts
It feels weird plugging my own article but I took the responsibility of writing day 4 of Six Days of Stralman: “Anton Stralman the Maple Leafs prospect”. The end of Stralman’s tenure in Toronto ended up being the begninning of a terrible era that was the last decade for the franchise. [It was good, kid! - Acha]
“Whether it was due to the media, or the team, or the fans, Stralman was being told to fit a mold he could not succeed in. It showed in every interview what the narrative for defensemen in Toronto was supposed to be: strong in front of the net, be tougher, be bigger, be meaner.” [Raw Charge]
NHL.com interviewed backup goalie Peter Budaj about his summer, his relationship with Andrei Vasilevskiy, and the Lightning’s offseason in general.
Andrej Sustr also spoke with the media about his training in Montreal, the new additions to the roster, and what he focused on this offseason.
"You have to be up for a challenge, that's what makes you a better player, a better team."@andrejsustr is ready to kick things off: pic.twitter.com/pKV1owqqrU

Danis Zaripov wants to be on the Tampa Bay Lightning. But do the Lightning want him? “Zaripov shares the same agent with Lightning forwards Nikita Kucherov and Vladislav Namestnikov, and knows the other Russians on Tampa Bay's team.” [Tampa Bay Times]
That’s it. Humanity has reached peak adorability. The rest of us just need to give up. We had a good run, everybody.

The Prospects
The struggle is real, eh, Mathieu Joseph.
Former Syracuse Crunch defenseman Jared Nightingale has joined the Omaha Lancers, of the USHL, as an assistant coach. Best of luck to Jared in Omaha!! “In eight of his twelve professional seasons Nightingale was either the team captain or assistant captain.” [Lancers]
The Game
Former Bolt, Ryan Malone, has come out of retirement and has signed a PTO with the Minnesota Wild. Best of luck to Ryan! [Puck Daddy]

After completing successful sports hernia surgery, Boston Bruins center Patrice Bergeron assures that he will be ready for training camp. “It's mostly just not having any pain. Being able to skate, having a full stride and not having to think about it and not having to let the muscle warm up for 15-20 minutes and then being ready.” [Mass Live]
The University of Calgary, Faculty of Kinesiology have experiements with creating a “warning track” for hockey rinks. In the same way as in baseball, the coloured ice near the boards was intended to help players know when they are close to the boards, and therefore, more likely to get hit. Unfortunately, the players looked down at the orange paint as they were getting hit and suffered more severe injuries. It was worth a shot! Please read the article, it goes into much more depth and it is very interesting to read the hypothesis and methodology behind the experiment. [Puck Daddy]
Welcome to September! Only 35 more days to go!
Not TOO far away... ⚡️
