Quick Strikes: Mikhail Sergachev “will have to earn” every minute he plays
and Anthony Duclair re-signs with the Arizona Coyotes
The Bolts
Breaking Down the Play: @GeoFitz4 breaks down a play that leads to an overtime goal by Nikita Kucherov from Brayden Point. “It didn’t take long for the play to develop. But in it, you can see the creativity by both Kucherov and Point. From the time Kucherov got the puck, Point knew to work immediately to get open and give Kucherov an option.” [Raw Charge]
End Around Sports predicts the first two rounds of the 2018 Stanley Cup playoffs. The Lightning replace the Bruins and the Stars replace the Sharks from 2017 to 2018, and the Bolts make it all the way to round 3 (so far). How far would the Bolts have to go for you to be satisfied? Final Four and out, Cup Final appearace at the most, or Champions or bust? [End Around Sports]

The Prospects
Expect Mikhail Sergachev to have an impact in the NHL this year, according to Fan Rag Sports. “We want him playing regularly. We’ll let the situation play out. We’ll give him an opportunity certainly to make the team and play, but he’s going to have to earn it.” - Steve Yzerman [Fan Rag Sports]
The Game
Anthony Duclair and the Arizona Coyotes agree to a one-year $1.2 million contract. Duclair is the final RFA that the Coyotes had to lock up. “Duclair had a very rough season last year playing 58 games for the Coyotes and only scoring 5 goals and 10 assists for 15 points. A massive under achievement from his rookie season of 81 games played with 20 goals and 24 assists for 44 points in 2015-16. Duclair’s shooting percentage was down from his first year to second year by more than ten percent, which could be why he struggled last season.” [Five for Howling]

One seven-year-old Calgarian refuses to put on a jersey featuring the Chicago Blackhawks logo on it calling it “discriminatory” to her Indigenous family. “It’s a decision that means, due to zoning restrictions for the league by Hockey Calgary, that she will miss what would have been her first season in competitive hockey.”
This is a discussion that has had to happen in the NFL with Washington’s team name. Will we see a team re-brand of an Original Six team from this? Time will tell. If they do, I hope they choose this logo, it looks fantastic. [Puck Daddy]
