Quick Strikes: Tampa Bay Lightning’s Victor Hedman marries Sanna Grundberg

The Bolts (are getting married)

The #MeetTheHedmans hashtag was a bounty of riches yesterday as Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Victor Hedman tied the knot with long-time girlfriend Sanna Grundberg in their hometown of Örnsköldsvik. Attending the wedding were fellow defenseman Anton Stralman and captain Steven Stamkos, as well as other hockey players of note. Congratulations to Hedman!

Angelina Lawton, wife of former Tampa Bay Lightning GM Brian Lawton, has created a marketing tool that sports teams can use to upgrade their company’s presentations and marketing ability. “It’s a PowerPoint on steroids. That’s the best way to describe it. These huge brands use our product to pitch big sponsorships, six-, seven-figure deals. We help teams sell season tickets and premium spaces.” [Star Tribune]

The Prospects

Former Syracuse Crunch defenseman Ken Klee will be back with the team as an assistant coach for this upcoming season. Ken sat down to share a little more about himself. “When you’ve been as many different places as Ken Klee, you often start doubling back on your tracks. That happened again for Klee on Saturday morning at the Syracuse Crunch’s War Memorial.” [Syracuse]

Last Word on Hockey shared a list of 5 OHLers they think can make the jump to the NHL straight from junior. They believe Mikhail Sergachev can make the team right out of camp. Who else do you think can make the team out of the OHL? My bet is on Mitchell Stephens. Who’s your guy? Let me know in the comments! [Last Word on Hockey]

Top 25 Under 25

#9: Anthony Cirelli was a walk on for the Oshawa Generals after being undrafted into major jumior. Ever since he made the team he hasn’t looked back. (I still remember the dagger goal he scored on the Mississauga Steelheads that won Erie the OHL Championship). “When players get described as a two-way forward, people often take that to mean they’re more suited for defensive roles. As a result, Cirelli is an underrated offensive player. He’s creative when carrying the puck and has the ability to create offense through controlled zone entries.” [Raw Charge]

#10: Adam Erne is one of a few Tampa Bay Lightning prospects who will have a shot at the open roster spot come training camp. “The prototypical power forward, Adam Erne weighs in at 209 pounds and stands at 6’1”. He is a thick kid with sneaky good hands. His development has stalled a bit due to his recent rash of injuries, but he showed well in his stint with the Bolts, although his point totals don’t really reflect that.” [Raw Charge]

#11: Budding fan favourite Mitchell Stephens will be looking to show the Tampa Bay Lightning organization what he can do at the professional level this season. “Stephens has represented Team Canada on three separate occasions—at the U-18 World Juniors in 2014-15 and the U-20 World Juniors the past two years. Across the three tournaments, he has posted 8 goals to go along with 9 assists in 17 games. He earned the trust of the Syracuse coaching staff this past playoff season, dressing for 3 Calder Cup playoff matches.” [Raw Charge]

The Game

Viktor Arvidsson of the Nashville Predators has signed a 7 year deal at $4.25 million per year. Boy, what a sweetheart deal for the Preds, they were able to lock up their 24 year old centerman for less than $5 million until hes 31 years old. David Poile definitely deserved the 2017 GM of the Year award. [On The Forecheck]

Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews cost the Chicago Blackhawks $21 million alone.

Tyler Bozak of the Toronto Maple Leafs got married yesterday as well at a small ceremony in Colorado.

And finally, Wayne Gretzky was hilariously better than everybody he played against. [Reddit]
