Quick Strikes: Re-live some of Brayden Point’s best goals from 2017-18

The Tampa Bay Lightning star has some silky smooth hands and a pair of feet that are hard to beat.

Despite his size, Brayden Point has grown into a world-class talent for the Tampa Bay Lightning. He moves up one spot in our Top 25 Under 25 rankingsas a result. [Raw Charge]

Looking back, that was certainly well worth the price to make sure they got Point. The only other player drafted after Point in 2014 that has produced as well as him so far is Viktor Arvidsson of the Nashville Predators. In fact, there are only eleven players from this draft that have played more games, seven with more goals, eight with more assists, and eight with more points than Point has so far in the NHL.

And since it’s the summer, let’s re-live some of his best goals from the past season.

Yesterday, he was at the Kamloops Blazers Alumni Golf Tournamment and took some time to help the kind folks at Hockey Gives Blood. Humboldt Bronco Ryan Straschnitzki may be paralyzed, but that won’t stop him from playing hockey. [Manitoba Post]

The 19−year−old Albertan, who was paralyzed from the chest down in a bus crash involving the Humboldt Broncos junior hockey team, spent an hour practising sledge hockey at the Winsport Centre in Calgary under the watchful eye of former national team member Chris Cederstrand.

”It feels like when you’re on the ice you have nothing to worry about so I just like being out here and having fun,” said Straschnitzki.

Knight has 62 points in 42 CWHL games. She also won the Clarkson Cup twice — in 2012-13 and 2014-15 with the Boston Blades. In 27 NWHL games, she had 48 total points and won the inaugural Isobel Cup. She is one of the few players in the world to have a Clarkson Cup, Isobel Cup, Olympic gold, and Worlds gold.

The Arizona Coyotes have signed 22-year-old center Christian Dvorak to a six-year, $4.45 million contract. [Five for Howling]

An important thing to keep in mind when looking at his numbers is that they largely come at even strength. Of Dvorak’s 30 total goals 26 were recorded at even strength, and of his 40 total assists 32 came at even strength. While the numbers may not be huge Dvorak has shown that he can play the game at even strength and contribute and he doesn’t need the power play to pad his numbers. According to Hockey-Reference.com other players that have scored at a similar rate in their age 20 and 21 seasons include Mika Zibanejad, Elias Lindholm, and Brandon Dubinsky.
