Quick Strikes: The Syracuse Crunch show their support for the Humboldt Broncos

Good morning, Bolts Nation! How are y’all faring after no NHL hockey for an entire day? Terrible? Yeah, me too, the wait is killing me. Well, we have one more day to go so buckle down and kick that withdrawl!

The Bolts

@MattEsteves89 and I recorded a Charged Up: A Raw Charge podcast as soon as the Boston vs. Florda game was decided and we knew we were playing New Jersey. Check out our audio playoff preview, breakdown of the two teams, and our Stanley Cup predictions! [Raw Charge]

The New Jersey Devils are underdogs to the Tampa Bay Lightning. More than just by record alone, the Lightning have been a superior 5-on-5 team and power play team both throughout this season and in the three games against the Devils. For New Jersey get wins against Tampa Bay, they’ll need to emulate what they did in those three games: get great goaltending and keep up with Tampa Bay’s scoring.

Erik has been doing a lot of great work, especially on the radio in recent days. Highly recommend the follow.

One step at a time, this team has the talent, it has the mentality, it has everything it needs to go all the way. Why no us. [Tampa Bay Times]

“We’re just excited to be in this position and this is what we’ve been working on since Day 1,” Lightning coach Jon Cooper said.

At this time of year, the goal is three simple words:

”Survive and advance,” Cooper said.

With a goal in Game 1’s loss, Katchouk now leads the Soo in playoff scoring with 10 points (7g-3a) in six games. Three of his seven goals to date have come on the power play.

Raddysh is second in goals with five, and has eight points through six games, including a two-point effort in Game 2’s win.

The Game

1. Nikita Kucherov, RW, Tampa Bay Lightning: Don’t overthink this one. The best player on the best offensive team, which I have reaching the Stanley Cup final.

3. Steven Stamkos, C, Tampa Bay Lightning: Faded after a torrid first half, but still a shoo-in first rounder with as good a chance as anyone to lead the NHL in post-season points.

So, how much are playoff tickets? Asking for a friend. [The Athletic]

I wanted to see how much it would cost to get in the door of a team’s first playoff home game and, if you’ve got a little more cash on hand, what it’d cost to sit in the 100s. Here’s a quick overview of the former, with more information below.

The NHL is moving the NHL Skills Competition and All-Star Game to Friday and Saturday. It’s a bold strategy, Cotton, let’s see if it pays off. [Sportsnet]

After years of holding the skills competition on Saturday night and the All-Star Game on Sunday, the NHL is moving each event up a day for the 2019 weekend hosted by the San Jose Sharks. The skills competition will take place on Friday, Jan. 25 and the game on Saturday, Jan. 26 at SAP Center.

Buy, Sell or Trade: Kyle Okposo” Buffalo Sabres fans are already done with Kyle Okposo? Yikes. [Die By The Blade]

Two offseasons ago, when the Buffalo Sabres signed forward Kyle Okposo, much was expected of the highly-touted free agent signing. In the seasons since, Okposo has been anything but a disappointment.

In these last two seasons, Okposo has averaged 44.5 games per season, despite a season-ending concussion last year. Okposo has amassed 89 points as a member of the Buffalo Sabres (34 goals, 55 assists in 141 total games).

Highlight of the Night: There were no games yesterday, that’s why I’m crying you see.
