Reports: Marc-Andre Bergeron, Adam Hall to return to the Lightning

He’s not a mainstay on the blue-line, but he’s back in the fold for the Lightning on defense.

Veteran Marc-Andre Bergeron has reportedly been re-signed by the Lightning to a two-year contract worth $2 million. M-A was a mid-season signing by the Lightning, brought in as a power play specialist and 7th defenseman.

With Bergeron back in the fold, as well as Bruno Gervais added to the roster, this does not bode well for the re-signing of Randy Jones, and leaves in question the future of Mike Lundin in Tampa. Lundin, in a surprise move, was non-tendered by the Lightning yesterday. There are legitimate reasons behind the Lightning’s actions, but it still came as a surprise.

What’s more of a surprise, and a pleasant one at that? Forward Adam Hall has been re-signed by the club as well. Hall, who played on the fourth line with Nate Thompson and Dana Tyrell most of last season, was the Lightning’s Masterton Award nominee in 2010-11. He had originally joined the Lightning in 2008, but was vanquished to the AHL in 2009 by then-General Manager Brian Lawton. He endured, however, and rejoined the Lightning as a steady, gritty hand this past season.

Arguably, the Lightning’s bottom two lines are now set with Hall and forward Blair Jones being re-signed. It’s arguable because many can’t see Blair Jones replacing Sean Bergenheim on the 3rd line. The potential is there though.
