Solar Bears Announce 2018-19 Schedule Changes

Remember on Wednesday when I broke down the full Orlando Solar Bears 2018-2019 ECHL schedule?

Well…there’s been a few changes to the schedule of the Tampa Bay Lightning’s ECHL affiliate, announced by the team shortly after the original article was posted.

A total of 21 games—13 home and 8 away—were affected by the schedule revision.

The home opener remains the same: Saturday, October 13th at 7 PM against the Atlanta Gladiators.

The first of the changes comes during the first week of the season.  The Solar Bears went from playing 13 of their first 15 games away from the Amway Center to 10 of 15, gaining three home games: they will host South Carolina on Monday, October 15th and Tuesday, October 16th, then host Florida on Friday, October 26th.

The next change comes in mid-December, as Orlando adds two home games. They will host Atlanta on Sunday, December 16th. South Carolina will then visit on Monday, December 17th.

With the additional home games added in the 2018 portion of the schedule, the Solar Bears will pay for it in January.  After adding a home game against Atlanta on January 7th, Orlando hits the road for the next 9 games, playing two three game sets against Norfolk and South Carolina, then going to Atlanta on back to back Saturdays, with a trip to Greenville in between. They return to Florida for a rescheduled home matchup against Jacksonville on February 6th.

Three more changes come up in February: a trip to Estero on February 13th against the Everblades, then two additional home games to close out the month. Those home games will be February 24th against Greenville and February 27th against Florida.

In mid-March, the 3 in 3 weekend series against Idaho at home will now be played over a 4 day span. Friday/Saturday/Sunday, March 15th-17th, becomes Saturday/Monday/Tuesday, March 16th, 18th, and 19th.  Two more road games were added at the end of March: the 29th in Greenville and the 30th in South Carolina.

Finally, three out of Orlando’s final four games were changed. They are now April 2nd at home against Jacksonville, April 5th against the Everblades in Estero, and the regular season finale, April 7th against Jacksonville, also on home ice.

The updated schedule in full can be found here.  Tickets for all home games will go on sale on Friday, September 7th.
