Syracuse Crunch ink Shane Conacher to AHL contract

While fans await the waiver deadline this afternoon to see where fan favorite Cory Conacher will land this season, the Syracuse Crunch have welcomed another member of the Conacher family to the team.

23 year old winger Shane Conacher has been signed to a one year AHL contract after joining the team on a PTO in training camp. The 5-foot-9, 175-pound forward skated in both preseason contests this past weekend notching two assists which was tied for the team lead. Conacher spent the majority of 2016-2017 with the Orlando Solar Bears of the ECHL tallying two goals and nine assists in 25 games played. He skated in seven postseason games with the Bears scoring two goals to go along with seven assists, a statistic that was good for fourth on the team leaders list.

The Canisius grad is looking for his first real sense of stability at the pro level having only played in 35 games since leaving the Griffs at the end of the 2015-2016 campaign.

A proven scorer at both the collegiate and junior levels, Conacher has the ability to be a key contributor in a lineup full of question marks for the Crunch. It remains to be seen if he makes the team in Syracuse or is sent to ECHL Adirondack as a viable depth option. One thing is for certain, if Shane is anything like brother as a player or a person, he will be a fan favorite in no time.
