The American Hockey League released the full regular season schedule on Tuesday afternoon, which of course includes the schedule for the 2017 Eastern Conference Champions, the Syracuse Crunch.
Syracuse will open their 24th season of play on the road as they begin the front end of a home-and-home series with the Rochester Americans on October 6th. They round out that series on October 7th at the War Memorial Arena where the team will raise their two banners from this past season’s accomplishments: their 2017 North Division championship and the aforementioned Conference championship.
Other dates to remember include:
- Friday, October 13th, the new Belleville Senators will pay their very first visit to the Salt City.
- That same Belleville team will play their very first home game in team history on November 1st against the Crunch.
- On Saturday, November 11th, the Crunch will play host to the Charlotte Checkers for the first time since 2011. Charlotte will be joining the Eastern Conference’s Atlantic Division for the upcoming campaign.
- On Friday, December 1st, another new team will visit Syracuse for the first time as the Laval Rocket come to town.
- The Monday MLK Day matinee matchup returns for a second year in a row as Syracuse hosts the Binghamton Devils with a 1pm puck drop.
- The Syracuse Crunch will be heading to the KeyBank Center, the home of the Buffalo Sabres, on Wednesday, February 21st to take on the Rochester Americans./
In all, the Crunch will play 76 regular season games, with 38 of them coming at home and 38 coming on the road. Syracuse will take on 14 teams from the North and Atlantic divisions with their most frequent adversary being the Utica Comets (12 meetings). The team will be dealt the always tough hand of combating four different three-in-three’s throughout the season with one in October, February, March, and April.
