The Tampa Bay Lightning continue to add to their roster (and that of the
Syracuse Crunch) as they announced the signing of veteran forward Scott
Sabourin to a one-year, two-way contract. While financial terms weren’t
released by the team, Puckpedia is reporting that it the NHL salary is $775,000 with the minor-league portion at $250,000.

The undrafted forward was originally signed as a free agent by the Los
Angeles Kings in 2013, and has meandered around the NHL and AHL over the past
decade. In total he has 47 career NHL games with the bulk of them coming during
his two-season stint in Ottawa. Overall, he has 2 career goals and 6 assists
with Ottawa, Toronto, and San Jose. Oh yeah, he’s added 58 penalty minutes to
his career stats in 341 minutes on the ice.

Meanwhile his AHL career has been a bit more varied as he’s made stops in
Manchester, Iowa, Ontario, San Diego, Stockton, Toronto, Belleville, and San
Jose. He’s been everywhere, man. The 32-year-old has 181 points (88 goals, 93
assists) in 532 games at the AHL level spread out over 13 seasons. Along the
way he’s racked up 1,233 penalty minutes. Yes, you can assume that the
6’4″, 204 lb. forward plays a physical game.

Sabourin has spent most of the last few seasons at the AHL level and he
appeared in just one NHL game for the San Jose Sharks last year. He’ll likely
have a role with the Syracuse Crunch for the majority of the season, but gives
the Lightning a physical call-up option should they need a heavier hitter, and
or, willing pugilist for a particularly nasty match-up.

With the signing the Lightning are at 46 contracts signed with four slots
remaining.
